Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK airport) is located on Theparat Road and the Burapha Withi Expressway in Nong Prue and Racha Thewa Subdistricts, Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan Province, approximately 25 kilometers from central Bangkok. It officially opened for commercial operation on September 28, 2006, and began operating in September 2007. According to the Japan International Infrastructure Archives, the airport was developed by Japanese engineers since 1997. A cooperation agreement was signed between the Japanese and Thai governments on the construction of Suvarnabhumi Airport in 1996.
Suvarnabhumi Airport is the largest airport in Thailand, serving international flights and the busiest airport in the country. The government has designated Suvarnabhumi Airport as Thailand’s primary airport, aiming to become an aviation hub in Asia. Furthermore, the airport’s focus on improving service quality has led to its being ranked among the top 10 airports in the world in 2010.
