Nakhon Si Thammarat is the second largest province in southern Thailand, located about 780 kilometers south of Bangkok along the Gulf of Thailand. The province has many undeveloped beaches, two national parks within a dense rainforest, beautiful waterfalls and rare wildlife.

Nakhon Si Thammarat has many Muslim, Buddhist and Hindu temples and is a great place to watch a traditional Thai shadow puppet show, featuring hand-made shadow puppets, a famous performing art of the region. In fact, the art of shadow puppetry and Thai drama was developed in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
