Chaiwatthanaram temple was built in 1630. By King Prasat Thong.  His Majesty to be built on the site of his  home located at Ban Pom  Sub-district, Phra Nakhon  Si Ayutthaya District. Which is located by the Chao Phraya River on the west side of the city to dedicate as a royal charity to the mother but Her Royal Highness Krom Phraya Damrong Rajanubhab   assumed this temple was built as a memorial to the victory over the la-vag city and is temple built by replicating from Angkor Wat temple which has a construction architecture not similar other temples in Ayutthaya.

Chai Watthanaram Temple was the royal temple that conducts the royal merit of the King in Ayutthaya and place of fire for the remains of almost all royalty therefore has been continuously restored in every reign. His Majesty the King urn (Phra Maha Thammaracha) died, was dedicated to the fire at this temple, including the burial ground of the late Ayutthaya poet is the Department of the Royal Household, Bowon sathan Mongkol (Chao Fah Kung), the son of His Majesty the King and Krom Luang Abhai Nuchit too. And before Ayutthaya loss the war by Myanmar  in 1767 Wat Chaiwatthanaram was converted into a war camp after that Wat Chai Watthanaram has been abandoned forever and sometimes someone smuggles treasure the head of the Buddha statue was stolen. In 1987 The Fine Arts Department completed the renovation in 1992. So the tourists to see and experience the magnificent beauty of Wat Chaiwatthanaram.

Interesting things to know in Wat Chaiwatthanaram

“Phra Prang Si Rattana Mahathat” located in the middle of the temple considered as the main ‘s Prang.  Look like Prang of a Chakrutha on a square base. The top of the Prang overlap with 7 layers the top part is a lotus bud and the corner Prang on the same base. The main prang was constructed in the early Ayutthaya period.

“Prang Acropolis” there are total 4 bodies that enshrines a small  pagoda  surrounded by the main Prang. There are spire-shaped buildings that surround the crooks in all 8 directions. Inside the booth will house a Buddha image  and Crematorium.  With a few remaining murals.

Crooked balcony is the part that connects each crematorium round base clockwise firearm which originally had a roof around this crooked terrace. There will be 120 Buddha statues enshrined with gilded lacquer postures. The interior is made of wood. Currently almost entirely cut off Buddha head as well as being a wall of holy districts along the crooked terrace

Main Chapel is on the east side outside of the crooked balcony with the remains of the Phra Pang Meditation Buddha statue enshrined based on the base now have only the base of the chapel and the parapet base

“Stucco” regarded as a beautiful architecture in Chaiwatthanaram temple is outside of the 8 crematoriums will be a picture about Lord Buddha’s life

Chaiwatthanaram temple is an important historical place in Thailand. It is currently a part of Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Historical Park which was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991.
