SDEKAN013: KANCHANABURI EVERGREEN FOREST TREKKING

07.30AM Pick up by car from the accommodation in Kanchanaburi town,then proceed to Tham Than Lod National Park.

09.15AM Upon arrival, start trekking into its lower cave, and appreciates the cave’s splendid features. The non-touristy trail from here leads up to the upper cave, through the magnificent gallery forest along the stream that runs through the park’s famous cave. Walking for 2 kms. nature trail provides visitors a real sense of being in the tropical rainforest housing diverse species of plants and palm trees, including giant bamboo and other standing trees along the way.
The trekking route is suitable for those who are considerably physically fit. About half The route is very steep, though wooden steps were installed to ease the walk.

11.00AM Take a break and enjoy relaxing at the waterfall half way of the route.

11.30AM Continue trekking up the upper cave on top of the hill.

12.00PM Reach the open cave and ultimately enjoy the tranquility of its surroundings. Famous for its stone arch, the larger upper cave is also regarded a place of holy where an annual ceremony to worship the guardian spirits and ancestors of ethnic Karen people living nearby take place every year. Enjoy a peaceful picnic lunch.

13.30PM After lunch, take another route to trek back to the park headquarters.

14.30PM Upon arrival, enjoy a coffee / tea break.

15.00PM Pick up by car and return to Kanchanaburi town.

17.30PM Reach the town, and transfer to the accommodation.
